The Las Vegas Strip South

The Las Vegas Strip is the nickname for Las Vegas Blvd, where most of the largest Casinos in Las Vegas are located. The South Vegas Strip includes the following seven major Casino/Hotels:

  • MGM GrandFabulous Las Vegas
  • Excalibur
  • New York New York
  • Tropicana
  • Monte Carlo
  • Luxor
  • Mandalay Bay

These major casinos are the nearest ones to the McCarran International Airport. 2006 saw over 46,000,000 people come through McCarran, making it the 11th most used airport in the world.

Like most of Vegas, it is difficult to walk to and from each of these casinos outside, but there is a tram that takes you from Excalibur to the Luxor and then Mandalay Bay. You can walk across pedestrian bridges to get to the four casinos on the corner of Tropicana the Strip (Excalibur, Tropicana, MGM, and New York/New York). Seeing these seven casinos in one or two days by staying at one of them and then exploring by walking and tram is a good way to get some variety without having to pay for cabs to go all over town. And at $25 or more a trip that makes an extra $50 a day to spend at a show, a restaurant or hitting the tables or slots.
